Lots to Look Forward to in 2014!

1/6 School Closed due to extreme weather
1/7 School Closed due to extreme weather
1/8 School open on delay (10 am)   no new material presented/enrichment work only

Here are a few of the many things you can look forward to for the next few months!

1. Pen Pals: Each student in our class will receive a pen pal from TPS! Some of you may remember having a kindergarten pen pal last year. :)

2.  100th day of school on 1/15: MANY activities to celebrate this special day!
(I love how the kids don't even realize how much they are learning)
*Homework DUE ON Tuesday, January 14th:
We will be making our annual Kindergarten 100's museum. Your homework is to bring in a display of 100 items no later than Tuesday, January 14th. Please feel free to bring it in earlier. You may glue objects to a piece of cardboard (for example, glue 100 goldfish crackers in the shape of a goldfish), create a collage (for example, cut out 100 of your child's favorite toys from a magazine and glue into a collage), build a structure (for example, make an igloo out of 100 sugar cubes)or whatever you would like to do! Remember that we will be displaying these items on tables and hanging them on the walls. You will be able to take your items home at the end of school on Friday.
**Please also include the TITLE and your NAME. If title does not let viewer know what item you have 100 of, please list this information as well. Be creative and have fun!!

*Class t-shirt and decoration round robin  LOOKING FOR PARENT VOLUNTEERS to help with a big project on Monday, January 13. We will need help from 9:15 - 11:15. Anyone available??

*100 can challenge: The kindergarten is going to try to collect 100 cans to donate to Salvation army. If everyone brought in 3 cans, we would be OVER our goal!

3.   Giant Milk Jug Igloo:
AS you know, we are in search of rinsed out plastic gallon milk jugs. WE need about 400 to make a giant igloo right here inside our school. Google "milk jug igloo" for a sneak peek at our crazy dream... :) Please bring in milk jugs if you have them!!! We only have about 40 now...

4.  Owl City Tailgate:
At the end of January, we will participate with the whole school in another OWL CITY with the theme being tailgating in lieu of the SuperBowl! Fun!

5.  Behavior Reward:
Our class was really on their best behavior during December which means another behavior reward is around the corner! The next idea was to go bowling... I will keep you updated as to when we earn this trip. I will most likely need a helper to go along, so keep that in mind!

6. Winter Olympics
Our class will be following one country for winter Olympics. Keep posted for more info on this!

7. Valentine's Basket and Dance
The school is hosting a Valentine's Dance on Friday, February 7th. I hope you can come! Our class may have a little surprise planned... We will also be sponsoring a class basket. If you have a good idea for a theme or would like to help me organize collecting items, let me know!

Really I could go on and on (even more) with all that is planned!! We will be learning about snow, igloos, penguins (Arctic theme) and then of course MLK.

Stay safe and enjoy the winter wonderland!!
